Christmas and Insurance - The Secret Link

Depending on your religion if you’re asked about Christmas words such as "Jesus", "Santa", "Turkey" or "Queens Speech" may spring to mind.

Asked which words spring to mind when asked about Insurance may well produce a few others! So what do Christmas and Insurance really have in common?

1. Although many people may wish Christmas occurred more often as we all know it happens just the once a year. Much like most insurance policies with their annual renewal date. Indeed the first line of the famous Christmas song "12 days of Christmas" could be perfect for the Insurance industry as the first principle of Insurance is that of Indemnity (that is if you suffer a loss you will put back in the same financial position you were in before you suffered the loss).

How very different the song would have been if our dear friend the Partridge in the pear tree was instead replaced with:

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me the principle of indemnity.

Whilst the principle of indemnity is one of the best things about insurance not everyone would appreciate receiving it from their loved one.

2. Does the following story sound familiar? You're sat around the Christmas tree on Christmas morning looking at all the presents Santa has left behind. You're hoping that the rather large box with your name on it contains the latest (play station, IPOD, perfume, brew your own beet kit in hours or whatever gift you were longing for) only for you to rip it apart and find inside a (cake baked by your aunt, a box of cheap aftershave, jumper knitted by your Gran with the only 2 colours of wool she had left – pink and yellow – or whatever gift you didn't want).

If this does indeed sound like a familiar Christmas tale in your household then for some people insurance can sometimes throw up the same feeling. You may have taken out an insurance policy and expected it to cover you in the event of a loss occurring only to find out (too late) that it doesn't. So what can you do when it comes to insurance to try and prevent this? Well that leads us to number 3.

3. Your research will be rewarded. Remember all those hints that your wife/husband/children have dropped in the days, weeks and months leading up to Christmas about the present they would really like? Well if you've been paying attention and have made notes in the run up to Christmas and have actually gone to the trouble of buying people what they want then there's every chance you'll have a very merry Christmas.

Health Insurance Coverage For College Age Individuals

Health insurance is especially important for people that are attending colleges or universities. There are all sorts of people coming together from all over the world and the chance of illnesses spreading is very high. It is a time in life that many people rack up medical debt for the first time because they are no longer covered under their parents insurance plans. There are different health care plans to look into if you are too old to be covered on your parents plan or there are no doctors in your list of providers nearby.

Many schools have their own group insurance plans as well as clinics for students. This is nice except when school is not in session, or if the student transfers to another school. This is the main reason that student health insurance should be from a source independent of the school.

With student insurance that is not connected to any university, it will stay with you after you have graduated and have gone on to look for a job in your chosen field. You can keep the insurance as long as you need. And that is nice because you want to keep your insurance current until you get a job that offers it.

The insurance is not just for those times that school is in session. It is year round and is good for traveling within the US as well. There are certain PPO and HMO plans that don't give coverage anywhere other than a small area. Insurance that travels where you do is a good idea. That particular issue is one that should be checked before signing up for anything.

To get started with this type of insurance there are a few requirements. One of the main ones are that you have to be in school full time and you have to be under 30 years of age. After that you can keep the insurance for as long as you continue to make the premium payments.

To check out all that you need to know about individual health insurance for college kids, there are some great web sources. It is very important to get decent, affordable health insurance for anyone that is going off to school.

Easy Tips On How To Save On Health Insurance

In any situation, you must not disregard the well being of your health. This includes overlooking the value of having medical insurance. Take note of the fact that the reason why you want to have insurance is because you want to have protection. And one of the most important things that you must protect is the well being of your physical body. Never has a person exempted from suffering an illness; on the contrary, you will surely experience an illness one way or another. The only thing you do not know is when and how, and this is what health insurance is all about.

You will never know the exact time when will you suffer an illness. In addition, you cannot ensure that you will not be a victim of a very serious disease. The best thing that you can do in this situation is not taking chances and having protection for yourself. Therefore, getting individual insurance is still a wise thing to do. Thinking of the expenses that it may occur? There actually are ways on how to avoid this problem. Take a look at the different ways on how to get cheap insurance for your healthcare:

Shop around There are a lot of different insurance companies that offers different health insurance packages to consumers. It is very fortunate that you can now scout on different insurance companies right at the comforts of your home, as long as you have car insurance. Therefore, take advantage of this fact and shop around for the right company that offers quality services at the right prices.

Get the right coverage When we speak of coverage, we actually mean the actual scope of the insurance deal that you have. Remember that the higher the coverage that you have, the larger the scope that it will give you, which is the factor that is making insurance more expensive. However, when you are sure that you are relatively healthy, and is not very vulnerable to illnesses, it is wise for you to get only the right coverage. This will significantly lower your premiums.

Compare costs Also, take note of the fact that premiums are actually reviewed yearly. In this case, you might consider computing for the costs, and negotiate to your insurance company to lower your premium by preparing to meet a proportion of the amount at each claim. In addition, you actually also have the option to only claim your policy when a certain amount of medical bill is exceeded.

Insurancecaredirect is the website that is designed to answer all your questions relating to individual insurance. You will also be able to get good health insurance quotes from which you can choose.

What to Expect in a Car Insurance Policy

All drivers should know they are supposed to have a car insurance policy (or other form of financial responsibility), but many who are new to driving or are about to start driving may not be very familiar with what a policy entails. Perhaps it would help new drivers feel more at ease to purchase a policy if they knew what to expect before the actual purchase. No matter what a person is going through, it is easier to deal with when they know what’s ahead instead of trying to do something for the first time in the dark.

The Declarations Page
The declarations page is the part of the car insurance policy that contains all of the information about the policy purchased, including who purchased it, what vehicles are listed, etc. This page is an easy reference page for the policyholder and they can refer to it to refresh their memory of what they’ve purchased or when they’ve been in an accident and need to know what’s covered.

Names – the declarations page contains the names of the policyholder, the members, and the name of the insurance company. Also listed with the names are the person’s contact information, such as residential address and phone number. These names are listed so there is no confusion about who is and isn’t on the policy.

Policy Number – the policy number is listed on the declarations page. This number is what each customer of that insurer is referred as first, since there are some people with duplicate names. To easily file a policyholder’s information and refer to them quickly, the insurer assigns a number (which can be mixed with letters). Policyholders will need this number whenever they contact the insurer by phone or on the website.

Policy Period and Term – these listed dates are the length of the policy and the dates the policy is effective. Most insurers will automatically renew the policy when the term ends, but not always. Any accident related damages that occur outside of these starting to finishing dates will not be covered under the policy.

Vehicle Description – also on the declarations page is a description of each vehicle that is insured on the policy. The make, model, and year are in this section of the page, as well as the VIN number and age of the car is usually also present in this section. The garaged address is also listed in this section or underneath. It shows the address of where the vehicle is stored when not in use. There is usually a discount given for vehicles that are in a stored and locked facility, and the address of this location is needed. It does not have to be the same as the residential address.

Coverage and Premium – In this section is listed the coverage options that have been purchased, the amounts purchased, the deductible, and the cost of the premium. This part is what is most confusing to policyholders. First, know what liabilities are and then the names of the optional coverage that is offered by the insurer. Once a driver knows these definitions they will be able to read through this section easier and with better understanding.

Endorsements – endorsements listed on a declarations page are the other options that have been purchased and added to the policy. Not everyone adds endorsements, but they should be looked at to get an idea of what is offered by the insurer.

Signature – this is where the policyholder signs to acknowledge the agreement of purchase between the insurer and him or herself. Without this signature and date, the policy is not valid. When purchasing a policy online, the insured often uses an electronic signature by typing in their initials, full name, clicking a box, or other way deemed appropriate by the insurer.

In addition to the declarations page, insurers will usually include explanations or terms of what each coverage purchased are that have been purchased. Each insurer’s terms may vary from one another.

All-inclusive insurance policy now available from More Than

More Than has launched a new insurance product that it claims will "revolutionise" how people pay for their different policies.

Customers can obtain car, building, contents and travel policies with the More Than Premier online plan.

Policyholders with home insurance will be given an individual personal claims handler to process the claim from start to finish. The client can contact them directly with any query into how their case is developing.

With all the insurance programmes collectively held, clients only have one annual renewal date and monthly payment to keep on top of.

Mark Christer, managing director with the finance firm, outlined that customer control was a key feature of the policy, so they could easily see what they had cover for and what they no longer needed.

Once the customer has signed up to the package online they are free to adapt it to suit their needs by adding new policies, increasing or reducing cover, or adding additional drivers to their cars.

Automobile Insurance Policy

In an attempt to reduce the number of uninsured drivers, the state of New Jersey implemented the Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act of 1998. One of the outcomes of this act was to provide drivers with a bare bones, inexpensive “basic” auto insurance policy for individuals who could not bear the cost of purchasing the standard New Jersey automobile policy.
Coverages Offered by New Jersey's Basic Auto Policy

The basic automobile policy in essence provides coverage for the driver and individuals insured under the basic auto policy. It does not provide liability coverage for injured third parties unless the insured elects to purchase the coverage. Coverages and limits are as follows:

Bodily Injury Liability (covers third parties for bodily injury as a result of an accident caused by the insured): Not covered unless the insured elects to purchase a $10,000 per person/accident limit. Third party bodily injury liability coverage is an optional coverage.
Property Damage Liability (covers third parties for property damage caused by the insured): $5,000 per accident
Personal Injury Protection (protects the driver and individuals covered under the policy for injuries sustained in an accident: $15,000 per person/accident. Up to $250,000 for severe injuries.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (covers property damage caused by a motorist that is uninsured or had not purchase high enough limits to cover the property damage caused): Optional
Physical Damage Coverage (provides first party reimbursement for damage to the insured vehicle): Optional

Basic Automobile Policy Benefits to the Insured

Purchasing the basic automobile policy allows a driver to buy the bare minimum of insurance and still comply with New Jersey insurance laws. For the minimal cost of purchasing a scaled down auto insurance policy, drivers can avoid breaking the law and subjecting themselves to fines, license suspension and/or imprisonment.

This inexpensive auto policy was intended for individuals who might otherwise have opted to drive without insurance.

Auto Insurance Theft Coverage - Your Car Insurance Policy's Theft Coverage and Your Rights

Many American are unfortunately becoming aware of the increasing problem of auto theft, vandalism and how it affects your insurance rates. Every 27 seconds a car is stolen. It is estimated that at least 1 million cars will be stolen this year alone. Auto theft affects your insurance premiums so much so that there are instances where individuals living in certain locations are unable to even secure a regular auto insurance policy because of the risk of vehicle theft.

It's bad enough that someone would vandalize or steal your car. To make matters worse, you will be the one who ends up paying increased policy rates. You should also know that if you own a car that is considered by auto insurance companies as being high risk for theft, you could pay higher rates as well.

What kind of theft coverage does most standard auto insurance policies cover anyway?

Comprehensive Coverage

Automobile theft is covered by your automobile insurance policy's comprehensive coverage. If you are paying for comprehensive insurance coverage, you are paying rates determined by the likelihood of your car being stolen. Your auto insurance company will also review the car theft rates in your area, and whether your car's make and model is frequently targeted by thieves.

Protect Yourself From Automobile Theft

In order to protect your car from thieves, and your wallet from rising auto insurance premiums, take immediate action to discourage theft. Some of the methods you use to thwart thieves could also result in discounts on your auto insurance policy that can further reduce your monthly payments. For starters, install an anti-theft device or alarm on your car. If you are in the market for a new car, ask the dealership to include this feature with your purchase. Check with your insurance company about a possible discount for having an alarm system.

Lock Your Doors

Always lock your car doors whenever you enter or exit your car. Don't let the fact that you just need to make a quick run in and out of some place keep you from doing this. Also, never leave your car running with the keys inside of the ignition. Engaging in either of these acts can cost you your car. It only takes a few seconds for a thief to take off with your car.

Keep Items In Your Car Hidden From Sight

Avoid leaving items like your purse, packages, or envelopes in plain view. Once inside your car, a thief has immediate access not only to your vehicle, but anything else of value such as credit cards, cell phones or important documents. Consider tinting your windows to keep thieves from seeing what's inside. Anyone looking to steal items from inside of a parked car in a parking lot would have to get very close against the window to be able to see what's inside. That would look very suspicious.

Whats the Best Life Insurance Policy?

What is the best life insurance policy? You'll talk to different insurance agents, financial advisers, and financial planners who will tell you different answers. But they aren't necessarily as knowledgeable as they should be in some cases. And, there may be cases of conflicts of interest.

One correct answer to the question, "what is the best life insurance policy?" is always "the one that is best suited to my individual needs and financial goals." Everyone has a personal situation involving their current income and assets, their ability to make more money, their living situation such as whether or not they have children or a mortgage, and life goals and dreams. Any insurance policy needs to be customized to take all of these into consideration.

However, when people are asking the question of what is the best life insurance policy for them, they also need to have answered the question of which insurance PRODUCT is the best suited for their needs-not merely how much death benefit they should have on their life and other minute details like that. And this is where some bones of contention can be found.

Speaking basically, there are three types of life insurance product. These are term, whole life, and variable universal life.

Term life was the original life insurance and for a long time it was the only type that anyone could buy (there were different variations of it, however). Term life works the way its name implies. You take out an insurance policy that will last for a certain term, or period of time. When this term is about to expire, the policy holder can renew the policy or take out a new one-or, they can just let the policy expire and lose their life insurance (or at least that portion of it). If the policy holder does not die while a term life policy is in force, they have forfeited all of their premium money when the policy expires. They no longer need to pay premiums, but they also have lost their death benefit

Celebrate Your Life With a Life Insurance Policy

Life insurance policy is an agreement between two parties agree to compensate on uncertainty of life, property or wealth in exchange of a fixed amount called premium. It is also the transfer of risk from one entity to another in exchange for a premium and duty of care. Life insurance is a risk mitigation tool and also a tax saving tool.

Few years back, life insurance services in India were limited to big cities and towns with only Life Insurance Corporation of India providing the service. The lack of awareness of life insurance did not allow it to grow in rural and urban India. There were also lack of other life insurance agencies and corporations at that time. With the emergence of private corporation in the life insurance sector, the market has seen a boom. Now a days, all the big insurance companies are operating in India. The potential in the market is making these companies to come out with new and attractive life insurance plan.

Insurance is generally of two kinds, life insurance and general insurance. Life insurance policy covers life protection, retirement plan, children education and wealth creation. And in life protection, various things is covered, like term insurance, whole life policy, endowment policy, annuities and pension plan. The general insurance covers fire (covers all fire-related risk), marine (covers perils of travel) and miscellaneous. Miscellaneous category covers personal accident, business and risk mitigation, insurance of property, buildings, motor vehicles, factories, airplanes, home assets, flats and its contents, travel related accidents and losses and fidelity insurance of key employees.

With almost 14 big insurance companies in India offering multiple options to meet the insurance need of the consumers, Insurance companies are working aggressively in taping the market with various products and policy. Now the question arises that for which policy and plan one should go for. One needs to do the life insurance comparison before entering into any term or policy. Life insurance is totally dependent on individuals needs and requirements as to what suits the individual best. For each category of policy, one can have the life insurance comparison of all the big companies, which is available on the company's website or you can call the executive.

Choosing the best investment company depends on its performance and cost of its product and the service. Because of the stiff competition in the market, there are various companies providing best insurance plan in India. The Tata AIG Life's InvestAssure II has done well in the last few year with annual return of 72 percent. The Kotak Platinum advantage ULIP products is doing well along with its Child Plan and Term Policy.

In general insurance category, ICICI Lombard is doing well because of its comprehensive product line, instant online policy issuance, lightning fast claims settlement and simple and fast documentation. The Aviva life insurance has various attractive products for the consumers, like Lifelong Policy, Lifesaver or Easylife Plus, Young Achiever, Lifebond and Lifebond Plus, Pension Plus, Lifeshield, Freedom Lifeplan and Lifebond 5. All these Aviva life insurance products are doing well and are very good products.

With the rebate in income tax act under section 80 C or 80 CCC (1) and section 10 (10) D in India, more and more people are investing in life insurance these days.
